    Energy Transition Summit India

    8 - 9 October 2024
Seizing the opportunity to build a low-carbon future
    In-Person & Digital | The Oberoi, New Delhi | #FTEnergy
    VOD PASS

India’s pledge to become a net-zero carbon emitter by 2070 has the potential to transform its rapidly growing economy into a global leader in clean energy. To seize this opportunity, the world’s most populous nation must balance energy security for its households and businesses against the urgent need to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy and significantly decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. Currently, over 80 percent of India’s energy needs are met by coal, oil, and solid biomass, making the country the third-largest global emitter of CO₂. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious target to build 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and has announced billions of dollars in subsidies to manufacture clean technology. India also aims to become a leading exporter of green hydrogen. It is estimated that the country will require at least $2.5 trillion in additional investment to achieve its goals.

The inaugural Energy Transition Summit India brought together senior policymakers, global investors, and leaders from the Indian and international energy, metals, and manufacturing sectors. Expert-led and FT-moderated panel discussions, keynote interviews, and debates provided key insights and practical takeaways on how India can find a viable pathway to scale up renewables, decarbonize its industries, and capitalize on the global energy transition.
